Extension to Suspended Athletics Activities in the ACT
The Boards of Little Athletics ACT (LAACT) and Athletics ACT (AACT) and the Main Committee of ACT Masters Athletics (ACTMA) have extended the suspension of all athletics competitions and events to 1 June. This means that athletic activities scheduled in May 2020 will not go ahead.
The decision to extend the suspension to 1 June follows the Australian Prime Minister’s announcement that current social distancing restrictions would continue for another four weeks.
The suspension applies to all athletics competitions in the ACT and surrounding regions, including cross-country, track and field, and road events, as well as organised activities of training groups and large meetings.
The community’s health and well-being is our primary concern. In the ACT and region, the athletics community has an obligation to play their part in slowing the peak of the pandemic to minimise the workload of health care professionals, many of whom are likely colleagues and fellow athletes.
Athletics at Home | Home Athletics
In support of athletes staying home, safe and active, Little Athletics ACT, Athletics ACT and ACT Masters Athletics has launched Home Athletics.
Home Athletics is designed to help people of all ages in the ACT and surrounding region to stay active, engaged and connected with each other through athletics during this period of strict government guidelines around physical (social) distancing, travel and gatherings.
The home of Home Athletics is a webpage, a Facebook pageand other social media channels, where content is driven by athletes. Home Athletics will become a platform to share your stories, provide tips and tricks to assist in home training, eating, learning and working, and share other content from around the world as others find themselves innovating and undertaking athletics from their homes.
